Hello and welcome back to Equity, TechCrunch's venture capital-focused podcast (now on Twitter!) Where we unpack the numbers behind the headlines.

Today is our vacation recap of the year that not only brings our own Danny and Natasha and Chris and Alex into the mix, but also five venture capitalists we have to leave their notes on too. The goal of this episode was to think about a year that no one could ever have predicted, but as always with a certain angle on venture capital and startups.

We asked about the biggest surprise, about non-portfolio companies and about trends that they got wrong and right. There have also been jokes about Zoom investing (Alex came up with Zesting, but we accept suggestions if someone has a better nickname) and startup awards.
